Another cruise has come and gone.......

We were fortunate enough to be able to take a cruise from Charleston to the Bahamas for five nights at the beginning of spring break.  It was perfect because the kids only had to miss one day of school as their break started early this year.  We had the best time on the Carnival Fantasy.  Evan made a quick friend named Houston within the first two hours on board.  I was grateful as he was a great kid and they spent just about every minute together exploring the ship, playing putt putt, eating.....lots of eating.  Audrey also made a friend within minutes.  The girl's name was Audrey so they had something in common right off the bat.  They planned their days together in Camp Carnival and by the water slides.  John and I, well, we actually relaxed by the pool for a looooooong time on both sea days.  That has never happened before.  It was quite enjoyable.  Our excursions were excellent.  In Nassau we got a day room at the Sheraton and it was wonderful.  There was a tragedy that occurred there, however.  We lost Bubby.  We looked for him and he was nowhere to be found.  Grammy said Bubby was lucky to be able to retire in the Bahamas!  It was a rough couple of hours but Audrey did so much better than I expected.  I was proud of her bravery. She found that my sleeping shirt felt and smelled just like Bubby (I don't know how to take that) so she slept with it and used it when she needed comfort.    At the Sheraton, Evan met up with some boys from the ship and enjoyed basketball and swimming.   In Freeport we took a great Kayaking excursion.  It was a six hour trip and ended with a long stay at a pristine private beach and then a nature tour.  The kids loved Mr. Sam our tour guide and stuck by his side the entire time.  There were tame raccoons all over the place (introduced by an American over 50 years ago and are now a nuisance to the eco system) and they even swim after the food that you use to feed the fish.  All in all it was at the top of our all time favorite trips.  Time for vacation hangover to kick in.  But then again, we have another planned for November so we can begin that countdown now.
